What is AVCHD?

AVCHD(Advanced Video Coding High Definition) has been widely used by almost all major brand HD camcorders. AVCHD was first developed by Sony and Panasonic in 2006 for their high definition camcorders. AVCHD is compatible with most Blu-ray players. And of course, Sony and Panasonic Blu-ray players come first since they developed AVCHD, in particular, Sony BDP-S1, Sony BDP-S300, Sony BD507, the Panasonic DMP-BD10, the Panasonic DMP-BD30K, the Panasonic DMP-BD35, the Panasonic DMP-BD60K, the Panasonic DMP-BD80K, and the Playstation 3 etc. can all play AVCHD discs, while other manufacturers do not always provide reliable AVCHD compatibility.

Apart from playing back AVCHD discs, some Panasonic and JVC Blu-Ray Disc players also supports AVCHD playback from SDHC memory cards.
