Best burn AVCHD to DVD with iDVD on Lion

"I've imported some video from a Sony HDR-CX305E camcorder, which shows up as AVCHD in the import window, and selected the FULL file size. Everything goes fine and the video looks fantastic on my Macbook.
When I export the finished, edited movie to iDVD, regardless of the resolution I select, the finished DVD when played through my PS3 is of horrific quality.
I am wanting to know if I am doing something wrong here - why can't I get a better resolution from the finished DVD? I thought that AVCHD meant HD quality on a DVD as long as it was played in a Blu-Ray player? "

As the mentioned question by the friend has let so many Mac users to be crazy, all is because the poor quality iDVD export no matter we take which way to export, you must have tried these:
Solution 1:
Import into iMovie '11 at 'full - original size'
Create project, edited etc
Share > iDVD (iDVD prefs High Performance as length <60 mins)
Result - horrible - very pixelated, and 'low res'

Solution 2:
as above
as above
Export > QT (H.264, 25fps, Key Frames: Auto, 1920x1080)
iDVD > import video - browse for QT file (9.74GB)
Result - err not sure think i messed this one up.

Solution 3:
as above
iDVD > import video - browse for 'raw' import file (30GB)
Result (on very short clip) - very clear and good resolution, but so large!

We can't understand why the outstanding iMovie editing function will match such a low iDVD export, especially after we bought a excellent AVCHD camcorder and edit in cool iMovie and the last to get the poor result. To forbidden this cloying thing, though we are fully hoping iDVD will update to support AVCHD importing or at least convert 1080p AVCHD to others format by Apple iMovie, FCP, FCE or iMovie HD.
