Convert/Edit Sony Cyber-Shot AVCHD/MP4 on iMovie'11/09/08 easily

"Hi, I'm interested in a Sony DSC-HX9V, which is on the iMovie '11 compatibility list. It's a AVCHD 1080/60i/60p camera. Here I found a sample video: I prefer to use progressive format, but how will this work, since iMovie only supports making 30fps (and no 60fps) movies? 30fps would be fine, but I don't want to lose quality. Will only every second frame be used by iMovie? Thanks!"       from discussions apple

The Sony DSC-HX9V is one mode of Sony Cyber-Shot, but iMovie does not support footage recorded in 1080-50p and 1080-60p from Sony Cyber-Shot Camcorder, and some may produce "Video stabilization limitations more" problem. How to deal with the splendid camcorder with 16x optical zoom, incredible low light performance, full 1080x60p HD movie capabilities, high speed linear auto focus, 3D image capabilities, and backlight correction to catch everything in iMovie11/09/08?
