Import/Edit Sanyo Xacti Mp4 to FCPX on Mac (lion included):

"I have this Sanyo Camera that records videos on the 29.99fps and 59.94 fps 1920x1080 Full HD and makes MP4 files on H.264 compression for the video and AAC Stereo 48KHz for the audio. I have see very well the videos on my QuickTime software but when I Import them into FCPX then it seems the system is working of the background for a while but then it stops. And still I can't see the video only hear it.I remember I was able to import and transcode at the same time on FCP7. Any ideas? Please help."                  from apple discussion

Sanyo camera, especially Sanyo Xacti series are very popular ones which recording HD MP4 and other models including Sanyo Xacti, Sanyo VPC, Sanyo HD, Sanyo DM. Sanyo H.264/MP4 footage will play in QuickTime 10.0 and 7.6.6.(take Sanyo Xacti (mine is VPC-CG21EX) as example), but when import to FCP, FCPX, the FCPX supported camera main page clearly claims to "FCPX does not support footage recorded in 1080-60p from this Camcorder".  And the Xacti Full HD material (H.264/MP4) does not play in FCP X even if transcoded to ProRes 422. So here we recommend you use Sanyo Xacti HD to FCPX Converter for Mac Lion which enables you convert Sanyo Xacti HD like Xacti HD 2000, Xacti HD 1010, Xacti HD1000, Xacti HD700 HD Mp4 to FCPX, FCE, iMovie without problem.

Here is the easy guide on import/edit Sanyo Xacti HD on FCPX, FCE (Lion included):

Step 1: Import Sanyo Mp4 Video.
Click "Add File" to add your Sanyo Xacti clips to Converter after you launched it. You can upload several videos one time.

Step 2: Set FCP format.
For 1080p, H.264 is recommended.
Go to iMovie-> H264(Mp4)          iMovie->MOV
Or HD Video-> HD264             HD Video->HDMOV
 fcp format

Step 3: Convert Sanyo HD to FCPX, FCP.
Click "Start" button to convert Sanyo HD Mp4 to FCPX, simultaneously you can convert Sanyo Xacti Mp4 to iMovie, iDVD formats.
